Susi Davies

Yoga Teacher and Owner of the Zurich Dynamic Yoga Academy

Susi Davies, owner and principal teacher of the Academy, has a rich and diverse background that has led her to her passion for yoga. Born during the Russian Invasion of 1968, her family fled to Switzerland, where she received her education. After earning degrees in foreign languages and business studies, she embarked on a journey around the world, eventually settling in Australia at the age of 24. It was during this time that she discovered yoga, driven by a hip defect that has been with her since birth. This prompted her to embark on a path of self-discovery and healing through yoga, which she began in 1993.

Susi’s education in yoga and remedial therapy has been extensive. She completed her studies in Remedial Therapy from 1993 to 1996 at the Australian Institute of Natural Therapies in Brisbane, where she earned diplomas in Swedish and Sports Massage, Orthobionomy, Structural Alignment, Lymphatic Drainage, Shiatsu, Anatomy and Physiology, and Foot Reflexology. She also studied Thai Massage in Chiang Mai, Thailand, in 1999.

Her journey in yoga has been equally comprehensive. She studied with the Iyengar family and other senior Iyengar teachers in Australia, the USA, the UK, and India. Additionally, she has trained with notable figures in the yoga world such as Patthabi Jois, Nicky Knoff, Donna Holleman, John Stirk, Diane Long, Aadil Palkhivala, Donna Farhi, Sri Venkatesh, David Williams, Erich Schiffman, Seane Corne, Bryan Kest, and Noah Maze.

Susi’s yoga teaching career began in 2001 with an Iyengar certification, followed by an Ashtanga Vinyasa certification in 2002. From 2002 to 2012, she owned and operated the Cairns Yoga Academy in Australia, which was recognized by the Yoga Alliance as a Registered Yoga School (RYS 200). In 2002, she also achieved ERYT 500 accreditation from the US Yoga Alliance. Over the years, she has continued to deepen her knowledge and skills through various certifications, including Yoga Therapy, Pregnancy Yoga, and Life Coaching.

Susi has been recognized and featured in various yoga publications. In 2008, she graced the cover of Australian Yoga Life Magazine, and an article about her hip workshop was published in the Finnish Yoga Magazine. She also contributed weekly yoga articles to the Cairns Post throughout 2009. Susi’s teaching style is dynamic, inspirational, and motivational, drawing on her deep understanding of the human body and her belief in silent meditation as a daily practice.

In addition to her regular classes, Susi offers private sessions, retreats, and workshops worldwide. To connect with Susi Davies, you can reach her via phone at 079 8549752 or follow her on Instagram @susidavies.
